Traverse City-Anna E. Norris, 89, of Traverse City, died peacefully
Monday morning, May 6, 2013, at Orchard Creek Assisted Living.
Born November 5, 1923, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of
the late Charles W. and Jenny (Tull) Raspe. On December 18, 1946, she
married George Norris, who preceded her in death on December 15, 2004.
Shortly after his death, Anna moved to Traverse City to be closer to
family.
Anna was a proud veteran who served with the U.S. Women's Army Corps during
World War II, seeing service in England and France.
While living in Perry Hill, Maryland, Anna was employed by Perry Hall
Senior High School as an Assistant Cook, a position that she
thoroughly enjoyed while interacting with co-workers and students.
She always looked forward to her annual water plunge into the Atlantic Ocean on January 1 with the Bethany
Beach, Delaware Polar Bear Club.
Her interests were varied as she liked world traveling, gardening,
walking and riding the Tart Trail on her adult tricycle, wearing her trademark
Straw Hat.
Anna's real dedication in life was to her children, grandchildren and
family. She will be greatly missed, yet never far from our heart.
She is survived by her caring and supportive children, Wayne (Dottie)
Norris, of Underhill, VT, Brian (Linda) Norris, of Bethany Beach, DE,
Lynn (William Long) Norris, of Louisville KY, and Donna (Robert) Koltuniak, of
Traverse City; three grandchildren, and one brother, Eugene (Grace)
Raspe, of Debary, FL
In Celebration of Anna's life, a gathering will be held at the
Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 6:00 P.M.
to 8:00 P.M.
Cremation will follow. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest next
to her husband at National Veterans Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.
It is suggested that those who wish to further honor the memory of Anna,
may so do by making contributions to Traverse area Rail-to-Trail Conservancy in Traverse City, Michigan.
The Norris family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff
of Orchard Creek for the compassionate and loving care given to Anna.
The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at
