Obituary

Annabelle Lee Moyer McHuron passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, from causes of old age. She was born on December 6, 1931, to her parents, Oliver and Helen (Thomas) Moyer in Grand Traverse County at the farm home. She had a half brother, Loren, and a sister, Velma. She attended Kingsley High School and took courses at N.W. Michigan College.

In the summer of 1938, a cousin, three-year-old, Orville, arrived at the family home. Ann's mother raised Orville and Ann together— he became a valued and trusted brother.

Ann married Gilbert McHuron on August 14, 1953; they had three sons. She was proceeded in death by her parents; half brother Loren and his wife, Ruth; her sister Velma and her husband, Bud; her husband Gil; and sons, Mike, Patrick and James; nephews Russell and Freddie Moyer and Donnie Gaffney; and niece Sue Stephens.

Ann is survived by a granddaughter, Laurissa Davis; great-granddaughter, Madison; nieces Deb West, Jo Lee Powell and husband Jon, Joanna Broadway and husband Terry; nephews, Douglas Moyer and wife Diane, Bill Moyer and wife Sharon, Calvin Moyer and wife Donna. Janice Lichty and husband Dave; several great-nieces and nephews; and very good friends, Denny and Cindy Eckler.

Ann started working at Milliken's in March of 1950 as a switchboard operator. She worked for Milliken's for 47 years being promoted to buyer, division merchandise manager, general merchandise manager, and for the last 13 years, manager and store supervisor for four stores. She served on the Board of Directors for Milliken's, Board of Trustees for Osteopathic Hospital, Corp. Board of Munson Hospital, Board of Chamber of Commerce, Board of Downtown Traverse City Association, DDA Board, DAC Committee, also the CMC Committee at UHLMANS. She considered each appointment a great learning experience.

Gil and Ann enjoyed traveling, visiting Hawaii, Alaska— twice, Canada— many times, Nova Scotia, Mexico, and traveling back and forth across the USA in their motorhome. One of their favorite places was Lake Pleasant RV Park in Arizona, where they spent several winters.

A memorial service will be celebrated by Rick Harkert at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.
