Obituary

Anne Cecile Marie (Mlsna) Lautner passed away April 15, 2020, at age of 77, at Munson Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born May 30, 1942, to Charles and Ruth (Claypoole) Mlsna in Pontiac, Michigan, Anne Cecile Marie Lautner was the oldest of six daughters, Peggy (Dan) Treadwell, Cathy Gee, Carol George, Marilyn Mills, and Patty (Mike) Curry. She attended St. Francis High School and graduated 1960 as valedictorian. She received a scholarship to St. Thomas Aquinas College, and graduated with degree in education. She further studied at Laval University in Quebec, Canada, to further her knowledge of the French language. She taught French and Latin at St. Francis High School. On December 28, 1968, in a howling blizzard, Anne married Gerard (Good Old Jerry) Lautner. In 1970, she gave birth to her daughter Kimberlee (John) Howell, and in 1974, she gave birth to twins Chad Lautner and Lisa (Tom) Vorce. She and Jerry raised their children in Lansing, Traverse City, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Williamsburg, before finally settling in Traverse City. Anne taught in Elk Rapids, and later substitute taught for Traverse City Area Public Schools. Later, she left teaching to work in her husband's business, Four Seasons Glass Company.
Anne's thirst for knowledge was lifelong. Whether it was accounting classes at Northwestern Michigan College, reading, or opera, she always welcomed new learning experiences, and she always wanted to share her knowledge with others. Anne liked many crafts. Every niece, nephew, child, and grandchild wore beautiful booties she crocheted for them. Her Christmas trees were always decorated to perfection with her homemade ornaments, and she always made exquisite Christmas gifts for family and friends. She loved anything ruffles. She loved to bake. Her homemade bread and rolls were quickly consumed. Among her other talents were silk flower making and arranging, needlepoint, cake decorating, interior decorating, playing bridge, landscaping, macrame and sewing.
Her husband passed away February 16, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law Ralph and Mary (Emerson) Lautner. She is survived by her children; her grandchildren Christopher (Kristin) Lautner, Michael Lautner, Troy Hillock, Erin Hillock, Maddy Vorce, Ben Vorce; her great-granddaughters Lilian Lautner and Mary Lautner, her sisters, and many, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Anne and her family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
