Annette Jean Hardy, 93, of Traverse City, passed away June 9, 2026 at Willow Cottage with family by her side. She was born August 23, 1932 in Traverse City to the late Vincent and Gladys (North) Herkner. She married the love of her life, Edward Ernest Hardy on April 26, 1952 at the First Congregational Church. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.
Annette was a lifetime resident of Long Lake Township and was an active member of the Long Lake Women’s Club. She worked at Max's Service right out of high school and was a dedicated secretary for fifty years. She loved her job and all the friends she made along the way. In her free time she loved gardening, baking, coloring, crossword puzzles, and walking with her lady friends. But she truly enjoyed running. Together with Ed, they competed in many local races and around the country, including the Senior Games in Utah. She loved gatherings at the family farm, sitting on the porch, celebrating the holidays with her family all together. That's what she treasured most, being with family. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's many activities and events. A kind, caring, sweet lady, always with a smile. Happy to help out in any way she could. Annette will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Lori (John) Kwasky and son Jim (Kathy) Hardy both of Traverse City; three grandchildren Jason (Molly) Kwasky,
Suzanne Hardy (Dylan Sullivan), Jacqueline Hardy (Connor McGraw); two great-grandchildren Trey and Remi Kwasky; and many nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, her sisters Betty (Dave) Hardy and Laurene (Ronald L) Barnes, her daughter-in-law Kathy (Jim) Hardy, brother-in-laws Dave (Betty) Hardy, Robert (Sue) Hardy, sister-in-law Shirley (Frank) Kocevar and nephew Brad Hardy.
Private family services will be held. Annette will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City, next to her husband and other family members that passed before her. The family would like to thank the Grand Traverse Pavilions Willow Cottage staff for the loving and compassionate care they provided. Lasting friendships were made that we will cherish. Memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice, 4000 Eastern Sky Drive, Suite 2, Traverse City, MI 49684.
