INTERLOCHEN — Anthony J. Alessio, born Oct. 9, 1940, passed away on Oct. 20, 2011, at home with his loving wife of 37 years, Lin, by his side."Son Jo," as he was known as a child, grew up in Belle Vernon, Pa., and Detroit. He retired from Detroit Diesel, moved to Interlochen on Green Lake, where he and Lin built their dream home and worked at his pride and joy, a hosta and lily farm.Tony loved to swim, bike and drive his pontoon boat. One could usually find him driving one of his golf carts around their property.He was the loving father to Anthony Alessio (Pam), Kathryn Daniels (Joe), Ronald Alessio (Georgia) and Michael Alessio; beloved brother to Theresa Watt; much loved grandfather of Michelle, Donna, Michael, Jorden, Eric, Rachel and Mariah; and uncle Tony to Pam Baril (Steve), Patti Gonyeau (Jeff), Sheri Ward (Chris), Kim DeVries, Natasha, Christopher, Randy and Penny.He was preceded in death by grandson, Dylan Alessio; mother, Kathryn Alessio; father, Anthony Alessio; sister, Mary Jane Keen; mother-in-law, Norma Booth; father-in-law, Ernest Booth; sister-in-law, Barbara Day; and brother-in-law, Ralph Day.Private family services were held for Anthony.
