Anthony Lichvar, 88, of Traverse City and formerly of Sun City Center, FL, Farmington Hills, MI, and Walled Lake, MI, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Tony was born December 6, 1927 to the late Anthony and Susan (Sprock) Lichvar in Johnstown, PA. He survived his sisters Mildred, Barbara, and Mary. Following his graduation from high school, Tony enlisted in the U. S. Navy. In January of 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Genevieve May Greathouse.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Alan) Smith of Bedford, TX Marcia Lichvar of Traverse City, Charlene Lichvar of Grand Rapids and Toni Lichvar (David Brueggen) of Cincinnati, OH. Also surviving are his grandchildren Shannon VanDyck, Ryan Smith, Michael Murphy and Christine Murphy. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Gen.
Tony founded and operated Lichvar Precision Inc. in Walled Lake.
Tony was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Multi-Lakes Sports Club. He and Gen traveled extensively following his retirement.
Tony and Gen were founding members of Crossroads Presbyterian Church. He served as an ordained elder for over twenty-five years and was a church member there for over fifty-five years. Tony greatly valued his church commitment and the church was a vital part of his and his families' lives. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. February 5, 2016 at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 1445 Welch Rd., Walled Lake 48390. His interment will be in Oakland Hills Memorial Cemetery.
