MESICK — Arden Johnson, 79, of Mesick, passed away Dec. 23, 2010, at Munson Hospice House.Arden was born Sept. 30, 1931, to the late Roy and Hazelle (Bond) Johnson in Bear Lake. On Oct. 27, 1951, Arden married the former Virginia Mack in Harlan.By trade, Arden was a contractor, although in his spare time he enjoyed building homes with Habitat for Humanity. Throughout his life, Arden volunteered his time, serving in several aspects of ministry at Inland Community of Christ Church. He also enjoyed R.V. traveling and camping, playing cards, and watching football. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Arden is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia; his four daughters, Chris (Jim) Sheffer, of Traverse City, Gail (Jerry) Dennis, of Traverse City, Karen (Tim) Roth, of Petoskey, and Michelle (special friend Kim Miller) Brace, of Allison, Iowa; grandchildren, Jamey (Renee) Sheffer, Sam (Kristi) Sheffer, Brent (Rosie) Sheffer, Aaron Dennis, Nicholas Dennis, Tyler Roth, Megan Roth, Mallory Brace, Mindy Brace, McKenzie Brace, Madison Brace; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Kira, Alex and Ryan Sheffer; brothers, Robert (Grace) Johnson, of Bear Lake, and Gordon (Doris) Johnson, of Saginaw; and sister, Margaret (Richard) Younk.Arden was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Irwin, LaVerne, Forrest and Darwin; and sister, Waneta Desonia.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.Arden's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, also at the funeral home. Elder Gregg McDonald will lead the celebration.Memorial contributions in Arden's honor may be directed to Habitat for Humanity or to the Inland Community of Christ Church.Please visit
