Ardyce Isabelle Hansen, 93, of Traverse City passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Ardyce was born on Saturday, November 5, 1921 to the late Lawrence and Laura (Climie) Hoyt in Detroit. She graduated from Lincoln Park High School in June 1939. In 1941, she married Walter Adomat in Palo Pinto, TX. Born to that marriage were two children, Cheryl Louise, who was stillborn, and Kim Adomat.
Ardyce worked as a secretary in various businesses. On April 1, 1968, they moved to Traverse City after having lived in Lincoln Park and Allen Park for 45 years. They purchased the City Center Motel which they operated until they sold it in 1978. Ardyce then was employed at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital in Medical Records until she retired in 1994. Her husband Wally passed away in 1992. On Sunday, May 8, 1994, she married Wayne E. Hansen in Hawaii. A member of First Christian Church in Traverse City, she also was a life member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star #524 of Acme. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, puzzles, wintering in Arizona and was a Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving Ardyce are her husband Wayne; her son Kim Adomat and his wife Mary Ellen Seguin-Adomat; 3 step-children, Suzanne (Richard) Costlow, Steven Hansen, Richard (Shawna) Hansen; 6 grandchildren, including a special grandson Walter Franklin Adomot, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, Raymond and Dale Brown, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Walter, a sister, Fern Daksiewicz, and her grandson Sgt. Justin Michael Hansen.
A private family committal service will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. For a more lasting memorial, Ardyce asked that memorial contributions be directed to First Christian Church.
