Obituary

Arlene T. Hahnenberg, 81, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Tendercare-Birchwood. Arlene Lautner was born on June 27, 1936 in Traverse City to the late Adolph and Louisa (Hendges) Lautner. She married Jack Haywood, he preceded her in death. She later was married to Jack Hahnenberg on January 5, 1974. Jack preceded her in death on October 23, 2007. Arlene worked along side Jack at the family business Hahnenberg Moving and Storage from 1978 thru 1996. After the business was sold she continued to work in the office for Morse Moving. Family was everything to Arlene, in addition her own children was a foster care mom to 29 kids over a six year period. She was a great listener and was always supportive with her advice. She loved to feed her family, cooking, baking and canning. Arlene had a passion for music she played the organ and danced at every opportunity. Among her other interests she enjoyed traveling, camping and bowling. Arlene was loved by many people and will truly be missed.

Arlene is survived by three sons and two daughters; James (Jeanene Phillips) Haywood, Cindy (James) Lyskawa, Thomas (Nancy) Hahnenberg, Joseph (Judy) Hahnenberg and Laura (Scott) Sheldon; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother; Leonard (Caryol) Lautner and a foster daughter; Mary DePew as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers; Beatrice Pickard, Irene Skiver; Pearl Haywood, Doris Kevwitch, Roy Lautner and Wilbert Lautner.

A memorial service honoring Arlene will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Pastor Jon Flikkema will officiate. Casual attire is preferred.
