Arlene Lois Moody, 87, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in the care of family in Traverse City.
Arlene Lois Basch was born on March 9, 1933 to parents Arthur and Laura (née Oleson) Basch in Traverse City. She grew up in Port Oneida alongside her sisters Jean and Judith. Arlene married Melvin Moody and together they celebrated marriage and their children Robert, Carol, Wayne, and Linda.
Before retirement, Arlene was a homemaker and owned A&D Enterprises for 40 years. She enjoyed working, tending to her farm, and listening to the music of Jimmy Dean and Johnny Cash. Arlene was also an accomplished seamstress. She was a member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millington and volunteered her time with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Stepping Stones.
Arlene is forever loved by her children Wayne (Kimberly) Moody of Interlochen and Linda (Thomas) Giddings of Millington; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Judith (Don) Schneider of Charlevoix; and daughter-in-law Shirley Moody of Gaylord.
She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Moody, parents Arthur and Laura, sister Jean Basch, son Robert Arthur Moody, and daughter Carol Jean Spencer.
A Celebration of Arlene's life will be held in the Garden of the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and last until the time of service. Pastor Chuck Towersey will officiate. A luncheon will follow after.
Arlene will be laid to rest alongside her husband Melvin at a later date in Millington Cemetery, Millington.
