Arthur "Skeets" R. Bramer, age 87, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Grand Traverse Pavilions with his loving wife Loreen by his side.
"Skeets" was born on November 30, 1936, in Traverse City to the late Arthur and Francis (Raftery) Bramer. He was the oldest of six children. He attended school at the Union Street School for a few years before going to St Francis School and finally graduating in 1954. Here, he was an altar boy, and the dear sisters nurtured his Catholic faith. In school, he also excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. This love of sports led to playing blooper ball and golf after he graduated.
When he no longer played sports, he stayed busy attending High School games in Traverse City as a scorer for basketball and football games or pulling chains. He also loved to hunt. Skeets enjoyed attending daily Mass and was a sacristan and an usher at St. Francis Church for many years. Skeets began working for his parents at Art's Auto Electric when he was old enough; in time, he purchased the business with his brothers and drove school busses for TCAPS for many decades.
Skeets is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Loreen (Loveland). His three children survive him: Arthur (Karrie) Bramer, Kathy (Tim) Squires, and Kenneth (Marcia) Bramer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon, Ben, and Bria; great-grandchildren Harper, Lexi, Jaiden, and Johnathon. Skeets leaves his brothers and sisters: Tim Bramer, MaryAnne (Robert) Herline, John (Marlene) Bramer, Chresteen Reuter, Terese (Paul) Reid, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in- law, Virginia Bramer, and brother- in- law, Patrick Reuter.
The family would like to extend thanks for all the priests who have cared for him over the years, and the staff at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, and at 7:00 p.m., a rosary will be recited for Skeets at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St. Traverse City, Michigan.
