TRAVERSE CITY — Audrey Jeanice Mikula, 85, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Aug. 19, 2014, surrounded in love by her husband and family. Audrey was born on Dec. 5, 1928, to her parents, the late Ward and Agnus (Bowling) Hilliard in Flint.
Audrey graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1946 and in 1949 received training to be a registered nurse from the Grace Hospital School of Nursing.
She married the love of her life, Warren Mikula, on Dec. 29, 1956, and together they raised their two children.
Audrey was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Dorcas Society, where she helped start the annual cookie sale and Madrigal Dinner. She enjoyed giving her time as a volunteer for the Munson Gift Shop and was a member of the Grand Traverse Cancer Society.
She loved the holidays, especially making cookies, and was successful in every endeavor she set out to accomplish. Her family and grandchildren were the love of her life and she will be lovingly remembered by all.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Warren; a daughter, Meta Stanchfield; son, Mark (Leslie) Mikula; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Megan Stanchfield, Jack and Ava Mikula; sister, Virginia Beldo; and nephews, Wayne (Bev), David (Fran), Leslie (Sue) and Clifford (Theresa).
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2014, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens following the service.
