Obituary

Audrey Irene Minch was born in Detroit Michigan to the late John "Roy" Minch and Shirley Hines, the second of 4 children. On June 7th, 1947 She married John Amos Zoulek in Traverse City Michigan. They raised 4 children together and were married almost 70 years until John's death in 2017.

Audrey, besides being a homemaker and mother had many jobs outside the home. She worked as a gym teacher for a couple of years at Immaculate Conception School. She worked for many years as both a cashier and at the service desk at Ace Hardware on Front Street. She was proud of the fact that she could tell what size washer, nut, screw, bolt, tool, etcetera anyone would need for home repairs.

After moving to Florida in the early 1980's she was the early morning person at a gas station, gift store and fruit distribution store, owned by Oakley Groves. The store was off what was the last exit before Tampa on Interstate 75/275 business loop. She met many people from all walks of life and many "Michiganders" as they were passing through on their way further south.

After a short stab at retirement, she went to work for the Pasco County Library in Land O' Lakes where she worked part time as a shelver. She retired after 10 years at the age of 72. She worked hard at all her positions starting in High School. She was most proud that she was able to collect a pension from the State of Florida for her 10 years of service.

She was a devout Catholic having converted prior to her marriage to John. She was one of the first Extra-Ordinary Ministers at Immaculate Conception when that become available for women to volunteer for this. When John became an Elk, Audrey volunteered in the Women's Daisy Chain organization, working her way up to President. She received the Daisy of the Year award during the 1970's to recognize her hardworking and volunteerism.

Audrey was an avid reader and loved a good mystery. She was also very independent and until 6 weeks before her death still lived on her own and even drove her car. She never met a stranger, and was loved by many.

Audrey passed away in Pensacola Florida, on January 28th, 2023 after complications from heart surgery.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Shirley (Paul) Penney, Kathleen (Rich) Hentschel, of Traverse City, and Colleen (Don) Vert of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren Tracy (Paul) Reightley, Sheila Hentschel, Jim (Jaime) Penney, David Hentschel, Eric Vert, Christopher (Jennifer) Vert; great-grandchildren Mikayla, Taylor, Mollie, Zoey (Logan) Elissa, Donley, Kayla (Trevor), Brooke, Cody (Tylor), Bailey, Cheyenne (Eliseo) Owen, Dylan, Sebastian, JJ and Madison; 4 great-great grandchildren Kameron, Malakhi, Alejandro, and Londyn; her Brother John Minch of Romulus Michigan; many nieces and nephews and close friends in Traverse City, Pensacola and throughout the US.
