Ava Mae Geiger

November 5, 2009 — March 31, 2018

Maple City - Ava Mae Geiger, 8, of Maple City, passed away as the result of accidental injuries on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

Ava was born in Traverse City on Thursday, November 5, 2009, the daughter of Brian Alan and Joy Lynn (Courtade) Geiger. She was currently a student at Glen Lake Elementary School where she excelled in all of her classes and was loved by everyone. She was a member of the Robotics Club and enjoyed everything and everyone at school. She always was looking out for the underdog and was quick to take someone under her wings to help them out. She was empathetic and wise beyond her years, was very forgiving and was one to always worry about others. There was no one that missed being greeted by Ava – she was very outgoing and wanted to make friends with everyone. She loved to sing, swim and go tubing, was an awesome artist and specifically loved fishing. She loved animals and hoped to one day be a zoo keeper. She had a "soul" beyond her years. This was manifested in a comment by one of her teachers who said "I'm 50 years of age and knowing Ava made me a better person."
Ava always wanted to do everything her sister did, was especially close with her niece Arianna, and loved Louie Armstrong's song It's a Wonderful World. Ava was truly an angel on earth.
She is survived by her parents, Brian and Joy; her brother, Travis Geiger and sister Breanna Lynn Geiger, both of Maple City; her niece Arianna Geiger, grandparents Gladys Louise Geiger King of Midland Claire (Mark) Courtade-Wilcox of Traverse City and Theresa Shelton-Courtade of Fife Lake, many aunts, uncles and cousins along with many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers Lamont "Bud" Geiger, Paul Edward Courtade and Lamar King.

Visitation for Ava will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Glen Lake Community Reformed Church. The service celebrating her life will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 8, also at the church. The Rev. Daniel DeVries will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Glen Lake Community Reformed Church 4902 W. MacFarlane Road, Glen Arbor, MI 49636 to be distributed to various projects to remember Ava.
