Obituary

Barbara Jean Bopry, 89, of Traverse City passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Barbara, lovingly known as Barb, was born on September 2, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Charles Russel and Erma (Wilbur) Trobaugh. On December 28, 1950, she married the late Robert Bopry in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

A devoted homemaker, Barb was known for her warm hospitality, exceptional cooking, and her famous cheesecake. She took great pride in raising her six children. Although she and Robert would part ways, she always strove to be the best mom for her children: Den Mother; supporter of, and chauffeur for, a variety of activities; and advisor. She had a passion for gardening and cherished the time spent with her family.
Professionally, Barb enjoyed a fulfilling career as Caterer and Banquet Sales Manager at the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City, where she dedicated over 25 years of her life.

Barb is survived by her children: Jeanette Bopry, Daniel Bopry, Gary Bopry, Thomas Bopry, and Michael Bopry; her four grandchildren: Desiree Bopry, Elise Bopry, Jared Bopry, and Kyle Bopry; and many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Melvin Trobaugh, her previous husband Robert, her son Dale Bopry, and her significant other, Paul Lipke.

A casual attire graveside service will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. In memory of Barb, contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice. Barb will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
