TRAVERSE CITY — Barbara J. Dilloway, 88, of Traverse City and formerly of Howell, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Barbara was born on Nov. 12, 1922, to the late Ernest "Red" and Anna (Altman) Eilert in Howell. Barbara graduated as valedictorian from Howell High School in 1940. She attended Michigan State University and later worked with Citizens in Howell. On Aug. 29, 1953, Barbara married Bernard "Bud" Dilloway in Howell. They began their marriage by moving to Mansfield, Ohio, then on to Milford, Conn., where their first child was born. They later moved to Traverse City and enjoyed many wonderful years living on Old Mission Peninsula.Barbara was an avid bowler and was a member of the Women's Bowling Association for over 50 years and a member of the 200 Club. She always looked forward to her Thursday night league. The "Bowling Ladies" became her travel partners and lifelong friends. Barbara was devout in her faith as an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She enjoyed tending to the candles and assisting the funeral luncheons. Barbara also volunteered for the annual Gladhander Auction; she was a Eucharistic Minister to home-bound parish members, United Way's R.S.V.P., Habitat for Humanity and the Father Fred Foundation.Barbara is survived by her loving family, Mary Anne Dilloway, of San Diego, Calif., Thomas (Polly) Dilloway, of Traverse City, Margaret (Daniel) Birdsey, of Preston, Wash., and Craig (Louise) Dilloway, of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Philip) Sheridan, Brynn (Philip) Guster, Shane Dilloway and William Birdsey; great-granddaughter, Natalie Sheridan; her brothers, Donald Eilert, of Pennsylvania, and Robert (Norma Lou) Eilert, of Howell; and many other loving family members and friends.Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard in 1994; and her parents.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Rev.
