Obituary

Our loving mother passed away May 26, 2012, at the Munson Hospice House, following a brief illness. Barbara was born Dec 12, 1922, in Dowagiac, MI, the only child of Harold and Lela(MacKenzie)
Hamilton. She graduated from Dowagiac High School in June of 1940 and on September 28, 1940, in South Bend, IN, she married Elston Ray "Lindy" Linderman. They lived in South Bend for a short time
until Lindy enlisted in the service. They lived in Alabama and Georgia before settling back down in Dowagiac. They began raising their three children and in 1959 the family moved to Hillsdale, MI. In 1973 Lindy was transferred to El Paso, Texas. Being a Michigander for most of her life, it was hard for Barbara to get used to the Texas climate, often saying how tired she was of the sun shining every day. She moved to Traverse City in 2004 to be near her daughter and her family. She lived at the Village at Bay Ridge West Apartments and during the nice weather and even on rainy days she could be found sitting on her balcony, reading a good mystery novel, watching "her" ducks swim in the pond with their ducklings. Our family was blessed to have had mom live so close to us for the past eight years. She was able to celebrate holidays, birthdays and family gatherings with us. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. She is survived by her son, Bruce (Lois) Linderman of San Anselmo, CA, her daughter, Kay (Jerry) Baumann of Traverse City and her son Doug Linderman of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are her four grandsons, Leif (Julie) Linderman of Billings, MT, Andy (Kathryn) Baumann, David (Melissa) Baumann and Doug (Emily) Baumann, all of Traverse City. She was an adored "Zsa Zsa" to her great granddaughters, Jace and Sloan Linderman and Isabelle, Nora, Tess, Ellianna and Adelaide Baumann. A private family celebration of Barbara's life has already taken place. Our thanks to Pastor John Clark from West Side Community Church for his comfort and prayers. Donations may be made in Barbara's name to the Cherryland Humane Society or Munson Hospice House.
