On Monday, May 11, 2020, Barbara May Mead, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 101.

Barbara was born on March 30, 1919 in Highland Park, MI to Demetrius Orio and Amelia Ruth (Csatlos) Gerdan. In 1936 Barbara graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan. It was there that she met the love of her life, John Edward Mead. On December 14,1940 they married and began the adventure of a lifetime. Barbara joined her husband as they traveled the United States during his military years. They lived in several states including Alaska and Kansas before returning to their native state of Michigan. They raised two sons, John Michael, and Terry Dan.
Barbara had a passion for entertaining. She would host parties for family and friends. Barbara, John and the boys would spend time together on the golf course and on the lake at their house in Lewiston, Michigan. She also loved to sew and created many projects for her friends and family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, and her sister Mildred. She is survived by her children John Michael (Jane) and Terry (Julie) Mead, grandsons John Paul and Michael (Deborah) Mead and nine great grandchildren.
A private burial will take place at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan
