TRAVERSE CITY — Barbara Mallard Pauly, 92, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Boardman Lake Glens-Brigadoon, with her husband Mel by her side.Barbara was born Apr. 29, 1918, in Enfield, Conn., to Fred and Florence Mallard. She graduated from Enfield High School in 1934. At her 16th birthday party, Barbara met Melvin Pauly. They became engaged on Sept. 10, 1937, and married on Sept. 10, 1938, in Crescent Lake, Conn.Business, and their love to travel, took Barbara and Mel throughout the United States and Europe. They have lived in Traverse City for the past four years.Barbara is survived by her husband, Mel; her son, Rick (Mary) Pauly of Traverse City; her daughter, Sue (Tom) Roy of Missoula, Mont.; her grandsons, Craig Pauly of Traverse City, Brad Pauly of Portland, Ore., Graham Roy of Missoula, Carter Roy of New York City; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren Pauly and Morgan Pauly of Traverse City.Besides her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas and Everett.A Gathering and Memorial Service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, with visitation one hour prior at Boardman Lake Glens-Brigadoon, 1400 Brigadoon Court, Traverse City, MI 49686.
