Barbara J. Piotrowski, age 81, of Interlochen, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Barb was born March 25, 1943 to the late Merlin & Ruth Hess. While attending Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, Barb met the love of her life, Jerry, and later married him on July 19, 1963. Together they raised three sons. Barb spent many years working in special education in the school systems of Coldwater and Traverse City, Michigan. The thing that brought her the most joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She treasured holidays and showed her love through cooking big family meals. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, board games, doing crossword puzzles, and in her earlier years boating.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Hess; and daughter-in-law, Dr. Kristin (Beck) Piotrowski.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Piotrowski; sons: Richard Piotrowski of Florida, Gregory Piotrowski of Michigan, Michael (Angeline) Piotrowski of California; grandchildren: Oliver, Zachary, and Sage Piotrowski, Erica (Peter) Gary, Samantha (Dr. Bradley) Rosinski, Jordan Piotrowski, Dominik and David Piotrowski; great grandchildren: Eathon Gary, Landon Piotrowski, Leroy and Leland Rosinski, Grace Piotrowski; brother, Michael (Brenda) Hess; her favorite aunt: Jean Walton of Grandville, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Smith Family Breast Health Center of Traverse City.
