Barbara Bennett Christiancy Rosso, 97, of Williamsburg, MI passed away on November 23, 2021. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 24, 1924. Barbara was the daughter of Carter Cornelius and Florence (Bennett) Christiancy. Barbara was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she graduated from South High School. After graduating from Michigan State University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics, Barbara married Robert Neil Rosso Jr. in Grand Rapids and they lived and raised their family in East Lansing, Michigan. Bob and Barbara enjoyed 61 years together. Barbara was involved in many community leadership roles as President of the Child Study Club, a scout leader, school volunteer and Lansing Panhellenic President. She was a member of The People's Church and was active as a leader there as well. She is lovingly remembered by her children and their families. Barbara raised her children while modeling a life of gentle caring, encouragement, unwavering love and kindness to everyone she knew. Barbara and Bob retired to the Grand Traverse area where they became active members of The Presbyterian Church. Hundreds of pairs of hand knit mittens that Barbara made were donated to children in need in the Traverse area. She enjoyed traveling, golf, cross country skiing, painting, bridge and time with cherished family and friends. Barbara maintained her calm demeanor, ready smile and sense of humor until her passing.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Carol (James) Goetz, son Robert Stephen (Arla) Rosso, daughter Patricia (Richard) Thirlby, grandchildren Amy Goetz (Justin) Rzepka, Laura Grace Goetz (Nicholas) Gamse, Tom (Kelsie Jepsen) Rosso, Paul Rosso, Jayne Rosso Seabrook, Marjorie Thirlby and David Thirlby and great grandchildren Grace and Anne Rzepka, Carter, Clara and Ella Gamse, Quintin and Chloe Seabrook, her nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, granddaughter Julie Patricia Goetz, sister Martha Marilyn Zuiderveld and brother in law, Jack Zuiderveld. The family is grateful for the skilled, kind care given to Barbara by the staff at Samaritas Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice.
