Barbara Soappman, 96, of Traverse City, passed away February 16, 2023. She was born to the late Charles and Dora (Dunkle) Allen in Grand Rapids, MI on August 16, 1926. Barb was a graduate of Traverse City High School and attended Asbury College. She was a 26 plus year employee of Consumers Energy.
A devoted member of Bayview Wesleyan Church, she was involved in music ministries, missionary society, Bible study, prayer groups, and taught Sunday School. Barb was a kind, giving person providing a caring, helping hand to many. Her selfless service reflected her deep love for the Lord Jesus. She visited residents of nursing facilities regularly and played the piano for weekly services at the Pavilions. Barb had an extensive collection of stuffed bears and was an accomplished seamstress.
On January 1, 1946 she married her best friend and life partner Glenn Soappman. They enjoyed 56 years together. Barb is survived and missed by her daughters: Sheryl (Tom) Fraser and Gayle (John) Collins; grandchildren: Stephanie (Michael) Nocella, David Fraser, John Matthew Collins, Christina Collins; great-grandchildren: Sylvie and Bridget Nocella.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 2002, her parents, and her sister Mildred Royal.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11:00am at the Reynolds Jonkoff Funeral Home with visitation from 9-11am.
