Barbara Lee Space

Traverse City - Barbara L. Space, 84, of Traverse City passed away March 14, 2015, at Munson Hospice House.

Barbara was born on June 3, 1930, in Bay City to Harold W. and Iva (Fahrner) Layher.

Barbara met her future husband, David Lee Space when they were just sixteen years old. They married on March 31, 1951.

Barbara and David raised their family in Owosso prior to moving to Traverse City in 1987. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, playing golf and painting. She had a great talent for decorating and making for a beautiful home. She was also a devoted member of the Old Mission Women's Club.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband David.

Surviving Barbara are her children, David (Diana) Space of Greensboro, NC; Thomas Space of Kalamazoo; Todd (Tammy) Space of Traverse City; Julie (Alan) Sorenson of Owosso and Stephen (Kathy) Space of Midland; and 11 grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends June 6, 2015 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the family home.
