Barbara J. Stanisz

Barbara J. Stanisz, 78, of Traverse City formerly of Dearborn Heights passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Munson Hospice House. Barbara Tront was born on January 17, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joseph and Jennie (Romanowski) Tront. She was married to John C. Stanisz on November 8, 1958. Barbara was an avid golfer and loved to play cards. Above all cooking for and spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Barbara is survived her loving husband of 56 years, John, two sons and two daughters; Michael (Debbie) Stanisz, Lynette (Jim) Purdy, Monica Washburn and Kevin (Eileen) Stanisz, ten grandchildren; Brian, Ashlee (Will), Scott (Sabrina), Michael (Terribeth), John, Christopher, Emily, Alex, Nicholas and Olivia, a great-granddaughter, Elaina. Also surviving are a brother, Richard Tront, and a sister, Debbie (Kevin) Switek.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Tront.

Friends are welcome to visit with Barbara's family on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 630 S. West Silver Lake Rd., Traverse City, MI.

A funeral mass honoring Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with visiting one hour prior. Rev. Fr. Gregory McCullum will officiate.

Barbara's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Munson Medical Center and Munson Hospice House for their care of Barbara.

In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to St. Patrick Catholic Church – Food Pantry.
