Obituary

Traverse City - Barbara H. Thompson, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on September 26, 2012 at the Munson Hospice House after a full and active life.

Barbara was born on July 7, 1914 in Moline, Ill. to the late Frank and Lucy (Ainsworth) Harper.

Barbara was married to Kenneth E. Thompson who preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by her daughters Pamela (Bernard) Stover of Traverse City and Carolyn (Graham) Downer of Rockwood, Ontario, grandchildren Kim (Mike) Rosso of Northville, Eric (Belinda) Downer of Sydney, Australia, Barbara (Tim) Beresford of Orton, Ontario, and great grandchildren Otto and Betty Beresford.

Barbara had many interests and hobbies. She was active in the Friendly Garden Club, PEO, Arts Council, and a supporter of Northwestern Michigan College, Munson Medical Center, and the Interlochen Arts Academy. Duplicate bridge was her passion and she played with friends to the end. Se was an avid skier, hiker, and tennis player in her younger years. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family.

Barbara will be laid to rest at the Garden of Remembrance at the First Congregational Church along side her husband. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 4:00 pm.
