Barbara Jean Zelinski, 92, of Traverse City passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at her home.
Barbara was born on Monday, December 29, 1924 to the late Harry Michael and Evelyn Loraine (Ducharme) Keating in Detroit. She married Vincent Francis Zelinski on Saturday, January 25, 1947 in Royal Oak. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2000.
Barbara and Vince moved to Traverse City from Royal Oak in 1974, Barbara had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She volunteered at schools, enjoyed gardening and knitting. She especially enjoyed her family and treasured her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Michael and his wife Susan Zelinski of Everett, WA, Patti and her husband Frank Smith of Farmington Hills, Alan and his wife Mary Zelinski of Traverse City, and her grandchildren, Dr. Josh (Dorothy) Kern, Becky (Phillip) Heckinger, Alex (Jenn) Zelinski, Andrew Zelinski, Kelly (fiance Keith Gingras) Zelinski and great grandchildren, Ruth, Amy and Greg Kern and Alice and Calvin Heckinger. In addition to her parents and husband , she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Louise, who died in infancy; sisters, Virginia Keating and June Nagel.
Visitation for Barbara will take place from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Father Christopher Jarvis will preside. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
