TRAVERSE CITY – Beatrice E. Jankowiak, age 87, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2013 at Munson Medical Center. Beatrice Gilbert was born on January 20th, 1926 in Ludington to the late Norman and Lillian (Barnhart) Gilbert. She married her husband Paul J. Jankowiak on July 14th, 1973 in Traverse City.
Beatrice was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and her faith was very important to her. She loved knitting, word search puzzles, enjoyed lunches with her friends and being a grandmother. Beatrice worked at United Technologies as a machine operator until 1991, cashier at Union Market for 15 years and also assisted in food services with the St. Francis Catholic Schools.
Preceding Beatrice in death is her husband Paul (November 10th, 2006), three sisters; Marie Robinson, Alice Cook and Toots Smith, two brothers; George Gilbert and Russ Gilbert, a daughter Sandra Bomer and a grandson Joey Adams,
Surviving Beatrice are her sister Winifred Chance of Haslett, three sons; James and (Delise) Bomer of Kalamazoo, George and (Rose) Bomer of Interlochen, Robert and (Laurie)Bomer of Kewadin, three step-daughters Paula (John) Leavey of Interlochen, LuAnne and (Dan) Lautner of Cedar, Christine (Douglas) Baudoux of Clinton Township and a step-son David Jankowiak and 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Friends are welcome to visit with Beatrice's family on Thursday, September 19th 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A rosary will be held 6:00 P.M. on Thursday.
A funeral Mass honoring Beatrice will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20th 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union Street, Traverse City, with visiting one hour prior.
