Traverse City - Beatrice F. Lautner, 88, of Traverse City passed away May 22, 2018 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions, with her family by her side.

Beatrice was born on August 3, 1929 in Traverse City to Alfred and Carrie (Fewins) Herkner.

On May 29, 1948 Beatrice married the love of her life, Glenn T. Lautner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They enjoyed 65 years before his death on December 19, 2013. Together they raised nine children on their family farm.

Beatrice was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She helped and enjoyed everything about the dairy and cherry farm. She loved to can and bake. Beatrice worked for Essex Wire for 12 years, retiring in 1977 and drove a school bus for 13 years for Grand Traverse Schools, retiring in 1991. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul and worked funeral luncheons at Immaculate Conception.

Beatrice is survived by her nine devoted and loving children, Theresa (Marvin) Weber of Grawn, Carolyne Sheffer of Glen Arbor, Colleen (Melvin) Horton of Traverse City, Helen Sheffer of Traverse City, Debra (Michael) Brief of Beulah, Edith (Steven Wheelock) Cox of Traverse City, Edward (Sandra Lueck) Lautner of Traverse City, Carrie (Raymond) Aprill of Cedar, Roseann (Gerald) Overmyer of Interlochen; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Rita (Ed) Schopieray of Traverse City and brother-in-law Cletus Lautner.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Glenn, brothers Percy (Dorothy North), Vincent (Gladys North) and Ernest (Hannah Rickter) and Gustav (Louise Doepel); sisters Dorothy (George Jr.) Emmett, Sylvia (William) Strohm, Gertrude (Bunda) Swanson and Marie Lautner.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grand Traverse Pavilions who treated Granny Bea with loving care and the Hospice of Michigan nurses and staff.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation begining one hour prior at Immaculate Conception. A luncheon will follow in Centennial Hall. Graveside services will then take place at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Beatrice may be directed to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital or to Immaculate Conception.
