Bernard Marvin Irish, 73 of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bernie was born on March 11, 1939 in Fife Lake, to the late Clifford and Katherine (Dalzell) Irish. He married Lorna Violet Chervenka on September 28, 1979 in Traverse City.

Bernie moved to the area at the age of two. He honorably served our Country in the United States Army.

In 1994 Bernie retired after 31 years of dedicated service to the City of Traverse City. During his retirement he enjoyed going to Florida and anything to do with music. The string instruments were his favorite and he even played in a couple of bands.

Surviving Bernie is his wife Lorna, children, Vern (Lisa) Irish, Darlene Irish, step-children, Joseph (Peggy) Nilo, Edward Philips, Judy Phillips, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings Milton Irish, JoAnn Snyder, Judy Irish, Mary Irish, and many other loving family members and friends.

Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Burton, Lester Maxine, and Richard.

Private family services will take place at a later time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society.
