Bertha Maxine MacInnis, 84, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Maxine was born on July 4, 1937 to the late Harold and Norma (Ellenberger) MacInnis.
She graduated from Central Michigan University in 1959 with Physical Education as her major and minors in Health Education and Sociology. She taught many years at the Holland Public Schools and decided to continue with her education. In 1963 she began working at Michigan State University as a graduate advisor while earning her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling. From 1964-1995 she worked in the Traverse City Area Public School Systems as both a Vice Principal and then as a Director of Guidance. She assisted many students in guidance for graduating on time and helping the kids stay on track.
In her spare time, Maxine was a huge TC Sports Enthusiast and she enjoyed any function that was TC focused.
After retiring she enjoyed her trips to Florida especially the Caribbean Cruise she joined friends on.
Maxine is survived by several forever friends and adopted family members including Judy and David Cowden and many others.
She is preceded in death by her parents and aunt Virginia (Robert) Griffin, and many friends.
Services will be announced at a later time and she will be eventually laid to rest in the Garden of Remembrance at the First Congregational Church in Traverse City. Kindly share thoughts and memories with her friends at
