Mrs. Betty Jane Berg

Betty Jane (Squires)(Bright) Berg of Traverse City entered into eternal life with Jesus her Lord and Savior on Thursday November 28, 2013 at the Pavillions.
She was born September 9, 1925 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Leroy and Ida(Young) Squires.
Upon graduating from Hillsdale High School in 1943 Betty joined the Canadian Army at the age of 17 serving them for three years during WWII. She was not allowed to enlist in the U.S. military because of her age but since her father was canadian she was allowed to enlist there.
Betty united in marriage with Edward Bright in June of 1947, from that union came two children, Sharon and Dennis.In March of 1956 she married Charles Berg and had one son Craig.
Betty had worked for the Michigan Employment Security Commission for 34 years as a claims examiner before retiring.Betty Loved cats, was an avid golfer and a member of the Traverse City Golf and Country Club for many years and also belonged to the Elks Lodge, Childs Study Club, Professional Women's Assc. and was very involved in her church.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, her son Dennis Bright, sister;Catherine Gailbrath and brother William (Bill) Squires.

She is survived by her Daughter Sharon (Roger) Evens of Travese City and Son; Craig (Kerrie) Berg of Battle Creek.
Grandchildren;Shawn (Stacie) Lichty, Melissa Raniszewski of T.C., Tyler, Rebekah and Kaycie Berg of Battle Creek, Chelsea (Ben) Hickok of Alaska and Kevin (Ashley) Evens of Grand Rapids.
Great Grandchildren; Misty, Amanda, Chloe, Emma, Rachel, Max, Kaden and Alice and Great great granddaughter Ellie Grace. In-Laws; Phena Squires and Stick Robinson and many more along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2nd at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 4PM until 8PM with a Memorial Service on Tuesday at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church at 11:OOAM. In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Michigan Hospice or Traverse Bay United Methodist Church.
