Betty J. (Smith) Foust, 87, passed away February 28, 2019.
Betty was born April 15, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, MI, to parents Charles R. and Arvilla J. (Darling) Smith.
In August 1952, she married Robert D. Foust, son of Dr. Judson W. and A. Virginia (Sutherland) Foust. Together they raised three children.
Betty Graduated from Central Michigan University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Music degree. She began playing piano in church when she was 10 years old, and continued to teach piano privately and direct music. Betty would go on to play in schools and various communities throughout the next 48 years. Her last eleven years working were spent in the Elk Rapids School District, where she taught instrumental and choral music.
Her parents, a sister Genevieve, and husband Robert, of 66 years, preceded her in death.
Betty is survived by children Robert D., Charles W., and Linda S. (Karen) Foust.
Per Betty's wishes cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
The family is being cared for by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
