Betty A. Groleau, 85, of Traverse City, passed away January 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 15, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Herman and Beulah (Root) Jarmer.
At the age of 10, she moved from Chicago to Williamsburg with her family and ended up on farming property that touched the homestead of whom would later be her husband.
Betty graduated from Williamsburg High school in 1949.
She became the first school secretary at West Elementary in Cheboygan, retiring 12 years later to marry Dorlen in 1977 when they blended their families together. They became the best of friends and enjoyed all types of activities including cards, their family and friends, enjoying the company of their trailer camping club the Cherrybend Blue Jay's Camper Club.
Dorlen and Betty have traveled to every state in the continental United States, making lasting memories and friends at every stop.
The children will always remember the baking that took place every Sunday crafting some of the best breads, rolls and sweets for the entire neighborhood to enjoy.
Betty can best be described as sweet, kind, loving, strong-willed and a person that would always provide good morals, ethics and values for her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived and missed dearly by her husband, her children; Scot (Jill) Ferris, Kelisue ( Mick Southwell) Stachon, Kevin Ferris, Craig Ferris, Brent (Pat) Groleau, Ralph (Tina) Groleau, and Jeannie (Tony) Trotter. Grandchildren; Jim, Daniel, Sam, Sara, Amanda, Jason, Craig, Sean, Kurt, Keri, Rick, Amy, Ava, Kaelee, Andrew and Ryan, as well as extended family member Donna Groleau.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her sons Marty and Chris, Sister Dorothy Steiner, Brothers Clark, Ed and Bill Jarmer and son in law Dale Stachon and her "bestest friend in the whole world" Carol Dahlquist.
A memorial service to honor Betty's life will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Saturday February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior.
