Betty L. Hardy, 73, of Traverse City, passed away on June 30, 2015. Betty was born in Midland MI on July 22, 1941, to the late Vincent and Gladys (North) Herkner.

Betty attended the newly built Traverse City Central High School and was in the first graduating class of 1960. She married David Hardy on August 19, 1961 at the First Congregational Church of Traverse City.


Betty was a life time resident of Long Lake Township and was an active member of the Long Lake Womens Club. She was employed as a secretary at Max's Service in Traverse City for over 40 years and volunteering at Munson Hospital for 15 years.

She enjoyed deer hunting and looking for "treasures" at yard sales. Betty loved spending Winter months in Zephyrhills Florida, at the Country Aire Villages, where she made many dear friends and was fondly admired for always lending a helping hand. Betty will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her sisters; Annette (Ed) Hardy, Laurene (Ron) Barnes, niece; Lori (John) Kwasky, Jason Kwasky, nephew; Jim (Kathy) Hardy, Susanne, Jacqueline Hardy, special friends, Jack Brautigam, Phyllis Carboneau and many other special great nieces and nephews, aunts uncles and special cousins, Beverly Swanson, Ruth Richardson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David and her son Brad Hardy.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, visitation will be held one hour prior.
Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
