Betty J. Koons

BETTY J. KOONS, 96 of Traverse City died November 16, 2025. She was born and spent her childhood in rural Ionia County. She was baptized and joined the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia at age 16. She graduated from Ionia Highschool and Hurley Hospital of Nursing as an R.N.. For nearly 25 years she worked in nursing at various hospitals, mostly in administration. She married in 1974 and retired from Nursing. Her beloved husband Jerry died in Dec. 1998. In 2000, she moved from Green Lake to Traverse City. She was a devoted member of The Presbyterian Church in Traverse City for 25 years where she was an Elder, Past Moderator of Presbyterian Women and active in various capacities. It was a great honor for her to be named C.W.U.'s Valiant Lady for 2009. Per her wishes, she will be laid to rest at the Presbyterian Church Prayer Garden.
