Obituary

Betty Jane Langley, 92, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Munson Hospice House. Betty was born on February 27, 1926 in Traverse City at home on Lincoln St., to the late Peter and Eda (Anderson) Kelenske. She was married to Philip Earl Langley on June 3, 1950 in Traverse City. He preceded her in on December 6, 1990. Betty truly loved Traverse City she seemed to know everyone in town and she was very proud of her family roots going back to North Manitou Island. During World War II she was part of the Rosie Riveter war effort working as a bomb sealer. Betty and Phil lived in Atlanta, GA, while raising their only child. She always wanted to return to Traverse City and was able to come home in 1988.

Betty is survived be her loving daughter, Connie (Gary) Montgomery of Ellijay, Georgia, four grandchildren; James Giessner, Anne Giessner, Michael (Erin) Giessner and Mary (Jacy) Herny, and four great-grandchildren; Connor, John, Alison and Matthew. Also surviving are nieces and nephews; John (Kris) Heater, Mary Gordon, Susanne Skudlarick, Christine (Sonny) Szejbach, Mary Ann (David) Shick, Bill (Ethyl) Bucklin, Dan Bucklin and Gary Bucklin.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Private family services will take place at a later date.
