Betty Lou Lawson

Betty Lou (Bushaw) Lawson, age 95, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 13th, 2024. Betty was born to the late Charles and Dorothy Bushaw on August 26th, 1929, in Mears, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Harold E. Lawson, on December 7th, 1946. They were always joking around with each other, and she never lost that sense of humor.

Betty loved to play Bunco with her girlfriends, sitting on the davenport with her best friend Sandy, spending time at Lake Skegemog fishing and swimming, visiting the Casino, and was an avid Diamond Dot Artist in her free time. She even donated some of her art to the Cancer Society to help pay cancer patient bills. Betty spent 32 years with St. Francis Church, as a lunch lady and volunteer, where she made lifelong friends.

Betty is survived by a brother, Louis Bushaw, two sons and two daughters: William (Tesha) Lawson, Michael (Karen) Lawson, Janice Douglas and Lauire (Albert) Clark, as well as seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Green, Beverly Kushman, Shirley Sieffert and Marie Muhleck also a son, Harold (Al) Lawson.

Betty did not want a funeral service, so friends are welcome to join the family for a burial service at Leelanau Township Cemetery on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, between 10:00-11:00 am.
