Betty June Reynolds, 87, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on September 29, 2020 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Betty was born November 29,1932 in Stanwood, Michigan on the family farm to parents Charles and Grace (Curtice) Higley. . Betty was the second youngest of 12 children. For Betty family was the best company. Her sisters and brothers were her best friends in life.
She met her husband Bill in the late 50's . He fell in love with Betty and her "root beer" eyes and ruby red lips. They married in 1961 and lived in Durand, Stanwood, Corunna and Prudenville.
She and Bill loved road trips. In their early years they traveled in a convertible with the top down; singing along to the radio, laughing at themselves when the song ended. They continued this for the next 55 years.
Betty and Bill loved to play cards. Euchre their favorite; Gloria and RG the perfect partners. They all loved a competitive and loud game.
Betty was a proud, loving mother who believed in the good intentions of her children. She adored each grandchild as a unique and precious gift. She taught us to laugh, sing and dance with gusto.
She was preceded in death by her husband William J. (Bill) Reynolds and son William T. (Todd) Reynolds; siblings Lyle Higley, Edward Higley, Kenneth Higley, Morna Paris, Beulah Corbett, Russell Higley, Rosalyn Patterson, Marian Cassidy, Marilla Higley, Lloyd Higley, and Gloria Vanderhoof.
Betty will remain forever in the hearts of her family; son, Jerry (Lynda) Esch of San Benito, Texas and daughters; Cheryl (Jim) King of Traverse City, Brenda Roper of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Peggy (Tracy) Wykoff of Prudenville and Kelly Reynolds of Owosso; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister in law Gerri Higley of Wakefield, many nieces and nephews, and family friend Cindy Wolbers.
Betty found a home away from home at Ritter's Assisted Living. She spent the last five months in the memory care unit at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was loved in these homes and made friends who accepted her just as she was. We are forever grateful for the kind and gentle comfort provided by her caretakers.
