Obituary

Betty A. Williams, of Denton, Maryland, and currently of Traverse City, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. Born on December 21, 1937, Betty led a fulfilling life of love, laughter, and dedication to her family, friends, and career. Betty was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Washington D.C. as an infant.

Betty was the devoted wife to Winston "Bill" Williams for 48 years until his passing in 2022. Together, they raised five children as a loving blended family. Betty is survived by her daughter, Terri Wilcox (Tom) of Traverse City, Richard Williams of Church Hill, Maryland, and West Palm Beach, Florida, Julie Jadwin (Tom) of Tellico Village, Tennessee, Michael Williams (Kathy) of Bedford, Virginia, and Mark Peacock (Marissa) of Salem, Virginia. Betty's family was her greatest joy, and she was especially proud of her grandchildren, Steven Williams, Rene Fiore, Mandy Forsythe, Ciara Peacock, Dorri Wilcox, Patrick Jadwin, and her 5 great grandchildren. Her sister Pat Dunn, partner in many shenanigans, and brother Robert Sheets preceded her in death.

Betty had a long and successful career at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where she served as a Human Resources Specialist for 26 years. Her work left a lasting impact on the University community, and she built friendships throughout her time there.

Betty and Bill retired to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where they made many lasting friendships.
Betty enjoyed "Words with Friends," with no less than ten games going at once. Known for her quick wit, sharp mind, and competitive spirit, Betty was always ready for a friendly game.

A service for Betty and Bill Williams will be held in Maryland this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
