Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY - Betty Jane Wilson, 72 of Traverse City, passed away on December 6, 2016. Betty was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on January 6, 1944. Throughout Betty's working years she was employed in a number of positions including, nursing aid and head cook at Provincial House Nursing Home, line worker at Bay Motors, and personal aid to many elderly women throughout Michigan.

Betty's parents were Pine Noel and Vivian Catherine (Mayhew) Stanford. Betty was one of five children: Katherine Brackenridge of Cheboygan, Theodore Stanford, Barbara Jean Holmes of Arizona, and Struther Allen Stanford of Traverse City.

Betty's love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was boundless. She'll forever be remembered by her devoted children: Keith Wilson of Interlochen, Carol Wilson and her husband Dan Johnston of Mesick, Renae Houston and her husband Lee Houston of Moberly, Missouri. Betty's grandchildren are: Justin Woebbeking of Grawn (and his wife Sara), Tara Thomas of Traverse City (and her husband Kevin), Megan Dubbert of Melvern, Arkansas, Dustin Wilson of Chanute, Kansas, Hayley Dubbert of Cairo, Missouri, Lindsey Dubbert and Shelby Dubbert of Madison, Missouri. Betty's great-grandchildren are: Jacob Woebbeking, Chase Thomas, Ashton Rosenwald, Addison Thomas, Keegan Snyder, and Grayson Hill.

Betty was known throughout her neighborhood for her amazing cooking skills. Like her friendly personality, the smell of her cooking drew people to her door. Betty enjoyed many hobbies including camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing darts and cards. Betty enjoyed reading her favorite romance novels, many of which were from the Harlequin romance series. She was very passionate about attending church at Bayview Wesleyan Church of Traverse City.

The Wilson family would like to recognize Mr. & Mrs. Kyle Hamilton who helped Betty in many ways throughout the latter years of her life. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Betty also had many friends where she lived, Hillview Terrace in Traverse City, and we would also like to thank them all for their friendship and support over the last 15 years.

Over the last several years of Betty's life, Betty's daughter Carol, was her caregiver and it was during this time that they formed a special bond that only grew stronger as time passed.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a visitation held one hour prior at 6 p.m.
