TRAVERSE CITY — Beverly Evelyn Bassett, of Suttons Bay, died peacefully Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, at the age of 80. Beverly was born July 29, 1929, to William and Helen (Dahlstrom) Dunbar in Chicago, Ill. She married Kenneth Edward Bassett on June 9, 1951. Together they had five children, Gary (Diane) Bassett of Cedar, Marla (Bob) Kohler of Suttons Bay, Greg (Lynette) Bassett of Minooka, Ill., Bill (Beth) Bassett of Suttons Bay and Don (Julie) Bassett of Lake City; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Bev and Ken worked together to create their award-winning waterfowl decoy carvings. Beverly enjoyed traveling, reading a good book and family get-togethers.Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and brothers, Don and William Dunbar. Surviving is her brother, Robert (Bev) Dunbar of South Bend, Ind.A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Leukemia Foundation.
