Beverly Marie Bardwell Burgee, 87, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at her home. Beverly was born on October 20, 1929 in Detroit to the late Ira T and Ethel M (Schriber) Bardwell. She married the love of her life Richard Courtland Burgee on July 29, 1952. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1994. Beverly graduated Cooley High School in 1947. She took a position at General Motors working her way up to assistant for Roger Smith. After leaving General Motors, she worked as an executive assistant for the legal firm Rice and Rice until moving to Georgia where she and Richard started a real estate business as buyer's brokers until her retirement in 1996 when she moved to Traverse City. Beverly was a wonderful seamstress fashioning many beautiful wedding gowns. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and decorating exquisite cakes. Beverly played cards, enjoyed puzzles and was an avid golfer, most proud of her hole-in-one. In her later years, Beverly mastered the art of cross-stitching. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Beverly is survived by her son and two daughters; Robert (Kathy) Burgee of Romeo, Annette Burgee and Laura (Mike) Burgee both of Traverse City; six grandchildren; James (Stacie) Burgee, Jennifer Hunley, Katrina Gomez, Sydney Nelson, Forrest Nelson III, Courtland Nelson, and four great-grandchildren; Delani, Landon, Jacob, and Samuel, her sister-in-law Jean and many nieces whom she deeply loved. Beverly was preceded in death by her brother Edward Bardwell.
A private family service committal has taken place. A celebration of Beverly's life is being planned for a later date.
