TRAVERSE CITY — Beverly Jean (Duval) Coleman-Nitzke, 76, of Traverse City and formerly of Detroit, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at her home in Traverse City, with her family by her side. Beverly was born on March 23, 1934, to the late Ralph and Muriel (Dornan) Duval in Detroit. Beverly enjoyed golf, tennis, bicycling and figure-skating, and earned trophies while bowling on a league. She loved music and playing the piano. She loved to travel and was a very energetic woman, earning her the nickname, "Buzzy". She married John P. Nitzke after a long courtship. She and John retired from the Ford Motor Company, where she was a seamstress, and they moved to Northern Michigan, where they spent the last chapter of their lives sight-seeing, dining and vacationing in and around the area. Beverly enjoyed a lifetime of crafting, and will be long remembered for her hand-crocheted wash clothes in a vast array of colors, which she marketed at craft shows. She enjoyed reaching out to her extended family and friends via Facebook and enjoyed playing video games and puzzles. She is survived by her son, Mike (Renee) Coleman, of New Baltimore; her daughter, Linda (Greg) Pierson, of Traverse City; lifelong friend, Beverly Carless, also of Traverse City; stepdaughters, Lori and Debra; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Memorial services will take place in the spring at St. Michael's Church in Macomb, officiated by her dear friend and classmate, Father Lawrence Jackson.
