Beverly J. Morey

Traverse City - Beverly June Morey, 85, of Traverse City and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, MI, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Beverly was born on Friday, March 16, 1928 to the late John and Grace (Hilts) Veit in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Beverly was married to Donald D. Morey on July 15, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, MI. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2010.

Beverly worked in the oil industry for many years she had been employed by McLure Oil, Roosevelt Oil and Refining and Total Petroleum. She also owned the Bluewater Court Resort on the East Bay until 1977. Beverly enjoyed antique cars, she was a member of the Cherry Capitol Region Model A Restores Club. Beverly was also a member of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society at Whitefish Point and the National Wildlife Federation.

Beverly is survived by her three brothers: Ross (Judy) Veit, Traverse City, MI Garry Veit, Midland, MI, Stanley (Kay) Veit, Mt. Pleasant, MI, two sisters: Patricia (Phil) Moulds, Saginaw, MI, Madge Richmond, Saginaw, MI, two brothers-in-law, Ron Knickerbocker, Manistee, MI and Elton Moyes, Rosebush, MI. Also many other loving family members including nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by, three sisters: Gwen Moyes, Virginia (Pat) Hovey, Karen Knickerbocker, a brother. Jack (Jean) Veit, a sister-in-law, Patsy Veit and a brother-in-law, Jim Richmond.

A Memorial Service honoring Beverly will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, MI. The service will be led by Rev. George Showers of the Seville Christian Church of God, a personal friend of the family.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Wildlife Federation.
