Bob Pierce

Jan 29, 1933 — Oct 10, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we honor the memory of George Robert Pierce (Bob), who passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026. Born on January 29, 1933, in Detroit, Bob was the beloved son of Clarence and Janet Pierce.

On October 31, 1953, Bob married the love of his life, Patricia (Pat), embarking on a beautiful journey of love and partnership that spanned over seven decades. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Bob is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Pat, his sister Judy Conway, and their children: Denice Bossardet (Phil), Jeanie Long (Mike), Jim Pierce (Dawn), and Melody Case (Doug). His legacy extends to his adoring grandchildren—Bob Pierce, Stacy Remy, Stacey Holtcamp, Veronica Watson, Jayson Adler, James Pierce, Michael Pierce, Eric Pierce, Robert Gleason, and Kevin Gleason— 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great- grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.

Bob attended Fitzgerald High School, where he graduated with the class of 1951. Shortly thereafter, he began a long and fulfilling career with Chrysler, as a tool and die maker, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service. His work ethic and commitment were admired by colleagues and friends alike.

Bob’s life was enriched by his passions and hobbies. A talented musician, he found joy in playing the saxophone, clarinet, drums, and guitar. His first band was the Satellites, “Music out of this world”. He devoted his musical talents by playing guitar and singing at many nursing homes in the area of the Traverse City Senior Center. He was a member of the Traverse City Senior Center Kitchen Band. He sang in and led church choirs in Warren, Yale, Brown City and Traverse City.

He had a deep appreciation for the great outdoors, finding peace in gardening, camping and the beauty of nature. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed bowling and archery, hobbies that reflected his love for both precision and fun.

A man of quiet strength and deep faith, Bob was a member of Fellowship Church, and he took great pleasure in volunteering at the Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Kingsmen and others. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding him as a devoted Christian, a supportive family man, and a steadfast friend. Known for his gentle spirit and kind heart, Bob found joy in simple pleasures: watching game shows, westerns, baseball and golf on a quiet afternoon.

The celebration of Bob's life will be at 11:00 on Monday, October 19, at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St, Traverse City, with visitation held one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 3:00 to 6:00 on Sunday, October 18. A light luncheon will be provided after the service. Burial will take place following the luncheon at Evergreen Cemetery, 3456 E M-113 just east of the village of Kingsley.

Bob’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and faith. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
