Bobbie Lou Petoskey, 77, of Grawn, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Bobbie was born on April 22, 1947, in Roscommon, Michigan, to the late Robert and Anna Mae (Daroche) Sheppard. She graduated from Roscommon High School, where she met the love of her life, Peter Louis Petoskey. After high school, Bobbie attended Northern Michigan University before transferring to Michigan State University to be closer to Peter. They married on Christmas Day, December 25, 1969, and together lovingly raised three children.
As the wife of a colonel, Bobbie embraced the responsibilities of an officer's wife with grace and dedication. She enjoyed substitute teaching and was a talented Home Economics teacher, always ensuring her students and her own children were well-prepared for life. Bobbie was also a gifted cook, known for her famous chili and her ability to turn Peter's bird-hunting hauls into delicious meals.
In her younger years, Bobbie had a passion for fitness, especially racquetball and running. One of her greatest joys was spending time at the family cottage on West Twin Lake, where she loved playing Scrabble. A fiercely competitive player, she was known for her skill and determination in the game.
Bobbie will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She was stoic and private, yet deeply devoted to her family, who will cherish her memory forever.
Bobbie is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Peter; her daughter, Elizabeth Petoskey; her son, Matt Petoskey; her grandchildren, Alex and Addison and her sibling-in-laws, John (Diane) Petoskey and Mary (Bill) Swallender. She is also survived by her beloved dog Susie.
She was preceded in death by her son Peter Louis Petoskey III, her parents, Robert and Anna Mae, a special great grandmother whom lived to be 103, and her in-laws, Merrill and Jean Petoskey whom she loved dearly.
A private family gathering to celebrate Bobbie's life will be held this summer. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society. Kindly share thoughts and memories with her family at
