Obituary

Bonnie Jean Decker, 68, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023, at Munson Medical Center, after a brief but brave battle with Lung Cancer.

Bonnie, the daughter of the late John and Patty (Woodard) Shea was born on March 20, 1955 in Lansing, MI. The family moved to Traverse City in her early years and she attended Immaculate Conception grade school and graduated from Traverse City High School in 1973. She met and married Robert P. Decker and together they raised a wonderful son, Bryan.

Bonnie dedicated 34 years of service to Fed Ex, as a currier. She loved her route and everyone she met over the years.

Outside of her career, Bonnie embraced the outdoors with a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. She found solace in nature and was remarkably self-sufficient, thriving in a life connected to the earth.

Bonnie turned every adversity into a blessing. She was a true believer.

Her love for life and family was evident to all who knew her. Bonnie's generous spirit touched the hearts of many, and her wonderful purple loving soul will be cherished forever.

She is survived by her beloved son, Bryan (Jerri Lynn) Decker, grandchildren, Justin (Hayley) Moss, Olivia (Travis) Doherty, Lauren (Corey) Wood, Alison (Jake) Wiederhold and Jeremy John-Patrick Decker. Great grandchildren, Eva, Oliver, Nolyn, Grayson, Zoey, Emersyn & Bennett, her sister Karen Shea, her brother Michael (Retha) Shea, her fur-baby Bella, and many loving friends all over the US.

She is preceded in death by her parents and many other loved ones in heaven.

A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held this summer at her happy place, Turtle Lake Campground.
