Bonnie (Barbara) A. Lock passed away on June 18, 2020 at her home in Traverse City, MI.
Born May 7, 1941 in Kenosha, WI to Dr. C.G. (Brownie) and Harriet (French) Browne, Bonnie lived most of the first 50 years of her life in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and while teaching full time and raising two children she earned her Master's degree from Wayne State University.
Bonnie was an elementary teacher in the Grosse Pointe School District, mostly teaching at Maire Elementary, for close to 25 years. Getting the opportunity to retire early, Bonnie and Carrol moved to Traverse City, MI and enjoyed the last 25 years hosting friends and family at their home, traveling around the U.S. and the world, enjoying the beauty of the greater Traverse City area, and volunteering with the Old Mission Women's Club, First Congregational Church, and the Traverse City Visitor Center. Throughout her life Bonnie really enjoyed getting to know a variety of people, learning about new places, playing bridge, and exploring the world on travel adventures.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 38 years, Carrol C. Lock; her children, Tracy Thompson and Don Thompson (Angela); Carrol's surviving children, Sue Marcus (Jay), Pat Atkins (Fred), Christine Kageff (Jerry), Dave Lock (Maria), Tim Lock (Sara), Richard Lock (Mary Beth), Daniel Lock (Chellie), and Martha Lock; as well as other family members and many friends.
We would like to thank Advisacare and Hospice of Michigan nurses and aides for the compassionate care they gave Mom over the last three months and the support they gave to our family.
