TRAVERSE CITY - Bonnie Lou Way, 61, of Williamsburg, passed away from health complications on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Munson Medical Center with her family by her side.
Bonnie was born on June 11, 1956 in Traverse City, to her parents Merlin E. and Mary L. (Gray) Lautner.
She married her childhood friend Larry L. Way on November 1, 1975 at Bates Missionary Church in Williamsburg. The two were later divorce yet retained a close friendship until her passing.
Bonnie graduated from Traverse City High School in 1974, and attended college classes at NMC. She received multiple Service Awards during her 20 plus years of employment with Lear Corporation. She truly enjoyed her time as a gas station attendant with Mutual Gas Station reconnecting with many friends from her past.
She grew up in Williamsburg, moved to Traverse City to raise her family and in her later years returned to her childhood home in Williamsburg.
Bonnie was an avid baker and cook, and later in life she discovered a certain Elvis impersonator that brought great joy to watch. She loved spending time with her family and "relished being a grandma" and her grandson was the "sparkle in her eye". She had a strong faith and big heart giving donations to numerous local and national charities. She would help out anyone in need even at the cost of herself.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Sean M. (Nicole) Way of Buckley; a grandson, Hunter Devin Way of Buckley; fiancé, Louis Green of Williamsburg; sister, Gayle S. Lautner of Kalkaska and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Merlin E. and Mary L. (Gray) Lautner; brothers, Anthony Lautner, and Jack Lautner.
A memorial service will be held on December 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service with a precession to Memorial Gardens followed by a luncheon at the Eagles Lodge located on 14 street in Traverse City.
