Boyd W. Kuieck

Boyd Warber Kuieck (83) peacefully passed at his home in Kewadin, Michigan on Monday, July 6, 2015, with his loving family at his side. Boyd was born on May, 27, 1932 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Jeanette L. (Warber) and his only sister, Shanna Mae (Kuieck) Anderson. He is fondly remember by his wife of 55 years, Johanna (Hannie), his daughter Shanna Mari (Dave) Branding and his son Scott Prins Kuieck, four grandchildren – Alisha, Zena, Ayla and Aaron, as well as two loving nephews Kim (& Cindy) Anderson and Boyd (& Kathy) Anderson. He attended Creston High School’s class of 1950, earning the nickname “Wings” playing football and running track. He earned undergraduate degrees from Michigan State College and Grand Rapids Junior College. His graduate studies and MBA degree were completed in 1955 at Michigan State University. Boyd’s career in both domestic and international business spanned more than 33 years and established a record of accomplishments in 117 countries around the world. Logging many millions of air-miles, he also lived abroad in the Netherlands and in Switzerland. He held numerous executive positions ranging from Export Manager and Sales Manager to President and Chief Executive Officer for six companies located in the U.S. and Europe, and was a general partner in his management consulting firm specializing in international business. Prior to his retirement, he was a University Professor and seved as an Executive in Residence and lecturer of marketing and management science at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. Upon his retirement in 1994, he and Hannie realized their dream and moved to their new house on Torch Lake, Michigan. For the next 22 years, Boyd loved boating, fishing, alpine skiing, traveling and, above all, creating his amazing paintings. Developing a unique style of detailed realism, he became an accomplished artist, specializing in oil paintings of wildlife, seascapes and landscapes. He was noted for his special treatment of unusual subject matter. Boyd W. Kuieck will be remembered as a gentle, kind, loving, helpful and thoughtful man by his family, his friends and his students. He hopes that you will take a few moments to reflect on pleasant memories with him. Cremation has taken place and a small memorial service & gathering will be held at The Frog Pond in Interlochen, Michigan on August 16th, 2015 at 11AM. Memorials may be directed to various animal rescue and protection organizations of one’s choice.
